An old fishing net draped across a reef, Misool, West Papua, Indonesia.
Fishing nets are capable of causing great damage to reefs when discarded or if they are entangled by accident. Because they are made of plastic material, they can take many years to breakdown. The strong currents in the Misool area create perfect conditions for filter feeders such as soft corals, sea fans and sponges and on most areas, the rocky substrate is literally carpeted in life. The reefs of Raja Ampat are some of the most diverse and healthiest in the world.Add to Cart Add to Lightbox Download
