Coral crab with eggs, Komodo National Park, Komodo, Indonesia.
Coral crabs live in symbiotic relationships with different hosts such as corals and anemones. They hide within the shelter of the coral arms and in return will attack predators such as crown of thorn starfish. Female crabs carry and protect their eggs until they develop and hatch into planktonic larvae. The Komodo National Park is home to the unique Komodo Dragon, but also has some remarkable marine life. Cold upwellings from the Indian Ocean to the south bring plenty of nutrients, providing food for a spectacular array of different species.Add to Cart Add to Lightbox Download
