C-type prints:
Fuji Crystal Archive Matt - Professional archival colour paper with a Matt finish.
Fuji Crystal Archive Lustre - A slightly stippled surface with a semi-matt finish and deep blacks.
Fuji Crystal Archive Gloss - A very good base white, with punchy colours.
Giclee Ink-jet prints:
Somerset Enhanced Velvet 225gsm - Made from 100% cotton, a velvety mid textured surface used for fine art reproduction and photography.
Innova FibaPrint White Matte 285gsm - With an ultra-smooth matt surface and brilliant white colour.
What does all this mean? If you want a print that looks and feels like a photograph, with the same type of material you get with normal photos, get a c-type. If you want one that looks more like a fine-art print, on paper rather than photographic material, go for a giclee ink-jet print.
What about colour and impact? C-type prints generally have more punch, particularly the gloss versions. If you want something with high-impact, go for a c-type. Giclee prints are more subtle and show great detail in the shadows and highlights.
How long will my prints last? C-type prints are more robust, can be cleaned and have greater resistance to fading in sunlight. Giclee prints are a little more fragile, and offer slightly less resistance to fading. So giclee prints need a little more care and thought about where you finally hang them.
Normal turnaround times:
C-Type prints - Up to 48 Hours in lab.
Giclee Ink-jet prints - Up to 48 Hours in lab.
